Roman Pavlyuchenko struck two second-half penalties as Tottenham claimed an incident-packed 4-1 Champions League victory over FC Twente.
Rafael van der Vaart failed to convert a spot-kick before the interval, but made amends by firing the 47th-minute opener - which was added to by Pavlyuchenko's first penalty - and was then sent off for picking up two yellow cards.
Twente reduced the deficit to 2-1 through Nacer Chadli before Pavlyuchenko netted a controversial third penalty to take Spurs out of reach with Gareth Bale completing the rout.
