Reading goalkeeper Ben Hamer has put pen to paper on a new contract.

The 22-year-old - who is currently on loan at Brentford - has signed a year-long extension to his previous deal, committing him to the Madejski Stadium until 2012.

"I'm very pleased Ben has signed," director of football Nicky Hammond told the club's official website.

"He is continuing to develop and is still young, especially for a goalkeeper.

"He's done very well on loan at Brentford in the past few weeks, and already has a lot of games under his belt in his career."
