Sheffield United are still in talks with a Malaysian businessman keen on investing in the club.
The Blades announced in August that they had been approached during a football convention in the Far East by a third party who wanted to boost manager Gary Speed's spending power, with the sums involved reported as "significant".
Blades chief executive Trevor Birch told the Sheffield Star: "The talks are ongoing, but nothing is imminent."
He added: "When we previously spoke of a time-frame, it was never set in stone. It wasn't a cut-off point.
"These things are never as strict as that. That would be the wrong thing to do. We are continuing to talk and we will see what happens."
