Craig Westcarr scored one and set up another as Notts County earned a 2-0 win over Plymouth at Meadow Lane.
The Nottingham-born forward pounced when the Pilgrims failed to clear Ben Davies' 35th- minute corner, rifling a powerful drive across Romain Larrieu's goal and into the far corner.
Earlier, Lee Hughes had twice gone close to opening the scoring for the Magpies, while Bradley Wright-Phillips was inches away from prodding home a teasing ball across the six-yard box.
A seemingly endless procession of corners just before the break almost culminated in Westcarr doubling the lead, but his close-range effort went agonisingly wide.
A powerfully-whipped free-kick from Jon Harley stung Larrieu's palms early in the second half, before a deft flick from Westcarr set John Spicer free on goal, and the midfielder calmly knocked the ball home six minutes after the break.
Plymouth substitute Yannick Bolasie almost pulled one back immediately as his cross caught the wind, and only a fingertip save from a furiously back-pedalling Rob Burch prevented a goal.
