Watford boss focused on relegation fight

Watford manager Malky Mackay insists he is focused solely on avoiding relegation this season despite seeing his side climb into third place with a 2-1 win over Ipswich.

Roy Keane's side bossed the opening 40 minutes before the Hornets took control with two goals in two minutes before the break. Stephen McGinn opened the scoring and 19-year-old Marvin Sordell added the second before David Norris pulled one back after the interval.

Mackay said: "Everyone looks to target 52 points and see where you can get beyond that so we are not looking too far ahead."

He added: "Teams can have injuries and suspensions, there are so many variables and it is a really tough league.

"Most seasons you can get in the play-offs or get relegated with two weeks to go in this division and I wouldn't write off either happening again this year."
