Birmingham boss Alex McLeish believes £6million-pound striker Nikola Zigic will have gained a major boost after scoring for the second time in two games in Saturday's victory over Blackpool.
The Serbian international followed up his goal against Arsenal by netting the decisive second in a 2-0 win over the Seasiders - City's first league win in seven games.
McLeish said: "Goals give strikers confidence and this will have been another big boost for the big fellow."
He added: "He has taken time to adjust to the English style of play but we are now starting to see some sharpness from everyone in the front areas - including Nikola.
"As well as scoring goals himself he will also create chances for others and Nikola and Garry O'Connor did well together up front."
City brought to an end a six game sequence without a victory and climbed in to 11th spot after Liam Ridgewell opened the scoring with his second of the campaign.
McLeish said: "I've been in the game a long time and when all is madness around you, don't panic.
"We are in a similar position to what we were at this stage last season and the win will give everyone a shot in the arm.
"We played with a different system, a diamond, and we tried to give Blackpool problems from the start and it worked for us.
"At home you have got to take some risks although I'm not saying we will play that formation every week."
