Arsenal and Manchester United are currently chasing the next exciting young English prospect – Gillingham forward Ashley Miller.
Miller has only just broken into the Kent side’s under-18 squad at the age of 16 and has been dubbed the ‘new Matt Jarvis’.
And now some of the top scouts have paid attention and are chasing his signature, after being touted as the best youngster to have come out of Gillingham’s academy – which has produced Jarvis, Chelsea defender Ryan Bertrand and Luke Freeman.
Arsene Wenger has always put a high price on bringing young talent to the Emirates while Sir Alex Ferguson has brought in the likes of Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez in rather than big name players.
Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler has admitted to following Miller’s progress and is even considering giving him a chance in the first team – with his side struggling for form in League Two.
Gills head of youth Darren Hare said: “All the big guns are here and they come on a regular basis, they just follow him around.
“We don't want to lose him like with Ryan Bertrand and Luke Freeman in the past, we're hoping he just wants to play for Gillingham, so even if his head does get turned he realises he's in the right place."
Manchester United’s scouts are known to want to bring the youngster to Old Trafford while Arsenal’s representatives are also interested.
