Liverpool will not be signing Atheltic Bilbao hotshot Fernando Llorente, at least that's according to a leading Spanish football expert.
Guillem Balague believes the Anfield club lack the financial clout to bring the Spain striker to Merseyside, with the 25-year-old more likely to move to Barcelona.
Balague said: "Who keeps coming out with these stories linking Llorente to Liverpool, or Villa and Silva for that matter, when I thought everyone was aware of the club's financial difficulties?
"Fernando Llorente costs €36 million - money I don't think Liverpool have at the moment. Llorente is thinking about moving on but I would favour Barcelona over Real Madrid, who will also want him. There will be a fight between those two clubs for his services in the summer."
Roy Hodgson has made no secret of his desire to recruit another forward to take the goalscoring burden away from Fernando Torres and Llorente apparently fits the bill.
The 25-year-old has scored four goals in his last five games for club and country and admits that he finds the reported interest from Liverpool flattering.
He told imscouting.com: "It's a compliment that they are interested in me, that means I'm doing things right."
