Niko Kranjcar could become the first signing of the NESV era at Liverpool, according to reports.
The Times suggests that the Tottenham midfielder is on Roy Hodgson's radar as he looks to add to his Liverpool squad in January.
Kranjcar, 26, has struggled to hold down a starting berth at White Hart Lane since moving from Portsmouth in 2009 and is allegedly available to Liverpool for around £7 million.
However, it would appear that Spurs boss Harry Redknapp would be reluctant to let the Croatia international move to Anfield as he has built a good relationship with the winger, having previously worked together at Fratton Park.
"I love Niko," said Redknapp last month. "Gareth Bale's been playing so well: what can you do?
"Niko likes to play off the left, really; he's not so happy on the right.
"You couldn't meet a better boy and he's a fantastic footballer, good pro, just gets on with it. If they were all like Niko, it'd be an easy job, this.
"He comes out every day, wants to work. He's not a problem."
But Kranjcar's quest for regular first team football could yet see him transfer to Liverpool in the New Year as Hodgson and NESV continue to turn things around at Anfield.
