Hartlepool boss Mick Wadsworth will run the rule over left-back Evan Horwood ahead of the home clash against Notts County.

The 24-year-old missed the trip to Dagenham and Redbridge with a hip problem but has recovered well and could be in line for a recall against Paul Ince's side.

Denis Behan is almost certainly out of the clash after picking up a shoulder injury in the 1-1 draw with the Daggers, while Adam Boyd is still struggling with a back problem.

Experienced midfielder Ritchie Humphreys could only make the bench for the weekend fixture after shrugging off a thigh injury but will not feature against County as he and James Brown, who has been struggling with an ankle injury, will attempt to build up some much-needed match practice in a reserve fixture against Middlesbrough instead.

Notts County captain John Thompson is suspended for the trip.

The defender was sent off during the home defeat to Southampton on Saturday and must serve a one-match ban.

Lee Hughes is available again after the striker served his one-match suspension against the Saints.

New loan signings Sam Sodje, Stephen Darby and Thomas Ince could be involved. Centre-half Sodje has signed a deal until the summer of 2012, while Darby and Ince, son of Magpies manager Paul, are on loan from Liverpool until January.

Midfielder Neal Bishop and striker Ben Burgess remain doubts with knee and calf problems respectively.

Notts have played at Hartlepool 11 times in all competitions and only emerged victorious once, on their first-ever visit in 1959.
