Reports suggest the Arsenal legend Gilberto Silva is unhappy at Panathinaikos and is hoping to return to the Premier league in the January transfer window.

This news has led to a variety of English teams being linked with Brazilian international. Fulham, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are currently believed to be front runners in singing the ex-Gunners midfielder.

The Arsenal hero who was vital to the north London club during the 2003-2004 invincibles season, is rumoured to be intending to live in London once his footballing career is over. A source close to the former Arsenal player told the Sun newspaper:

“Gilberto and his family loved London and can see themselves settling down there after his retirement."

However, it is believed that the 34-year-old midfielder does not intend to retire in the near future and may be satisfied with simply a move back to the Premier League, with the source going on to say: "He'd love to go back to the Premier League and Gerard Houllier at Villa may also get involved."
