Tottenham may already have a lot of quality midfielders, but Harry Redkanpp will always find room for another talented one at White Hart Lane if we are to believe these latest rumours.
The latest star name to be linked with Spurs is one of the Ghana World Cup stars, Derek Boateng, whose impressive form has carried on into the season and have caught the eye of numerous top sides across Europe.
The tough, no nonsense Getafe midfielder told tribalfootball.com that he is delighted to be linked with the North London club.
"I am hearing about clubs such as Tottenham and Sevilla, but I am down to earth."
"All good players will love to play in England and players in my position on the field are stars there, I like the physical part of football, so I would love to play there one day," he was quoted as saying.
"Tottenham? They are a fantastic team, White Hart Lane is a great stadium, so you never know, it would be fantastic. However, I am happy here in Getafe."
Boateng cost Getafe just £1 million 18 months ago, so they are oiled to make a quick profit if Spurs or any other team comes in with a reasonable offer of £6 million.
Tottenham are looking to build a team that can be a force in the Premier League and in Europe, so a player with experience of playing in La Liga appeals to Harry Redknapp. Jermaine Jenas and Wilson Palacios have not had the best of seasons so far, and the belief around White Hart Lane is that they could be offloaded in the summer, if not in the January window.
Boateng, 27, has enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance since moving to Spain and was part of the Ghana squad that reached the World Cup quater-finals in the summer. He has continued this good form and is excelling at Getafe and scored a rare goal in their 3-0 victory over Sporting Gijon.
