Jo Kuffour scored a hat-trick as Bristol Rovers thrashed Wycombe 6-3 to progress to the semi-finals of the Southern Section of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
The former Torquay man opened his account with a header and doubled his tally after smashing home from 12 yards and though Scott Rendell halved the deficit when he nodded in Ben Strevens' cross, Kuffour immediately restored his side's advantage from the edge of the area.
Chris Lines scored from a similar distance while Jeff Hughes scored a penalty as the visitors opened up a 5-1 lead. However, Rendell netted a spotkick of his own and completed his hat-trick with a header though any hopes of a comeback were extinguished in injury-time as Ben Swallow's magnificent 25-yard strike sealed the win for Rovers.
Brentford claimed a 4-2 win on penalties after the game ended 1-1.
Robbie Simpson converted the winning spot-kick which meant the Bees stretched their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions.
Swindon took the lead after 13 minutes when Charlie Austin beat the offside trap and poked the ball home for his ninth of the season, however, a superb cross from Craig Woodman on the left found Simpson unmarked at the back post and the striker headed home eight minutes before half-time.
A brilliant strike from Therry Racon was all Charlton needed to beat Southend 1-0 at Roots Hall.
Winning possession just inside the Southend half in the 28th minute, Racon powered forward and unleashed a 25-yard drive into the top left-hand corner that left goalkeeper Rhys Evans a helpless spectator. It was a goal out of character from the rest of the match which had plenty of endeavour but produced very little to set the pulse racing.
Substitute Daniel Nardiello snatched a stoppage-time winner to earn Exeter a 2-1 victory at Plymouth.
City had taken the lead within two minutes as Ryan Harley let fly with a superb low 25-yard strike and though Argyle midfielder Chris Clark replied with a speculative 40-yard lob, Nardiello pounced on a Richard Logan pass before slotting the ball past home goalkeeper Romain Larrieu to seal a win for the Grecians.
