Hartlepool caretaker manager Mick Wadsworth is without Ritchie Humphreys for the visit of league leaders Brighton.
It is the first time in Humphreys' career he has been absent through suspension after he was sent off in the FA Cup draw to non-league minnows Vauxhall Motors and serves the second game of his three-match ban.
Striker James Brown has returned to full training following an ankle injury sustained in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy game against Northampton in August and is likely to be included in the Pools squad to face Gus Poyet's men.
Fellow striker Adam Boyd could also be recalled to the squad after a back problem and Peter Hartley may start if he shrugs off an illness.
Colin Larkin is unlikely to feature after struggling with a back injury.
Kazenga LuaLua returns to the Brighton squad.
The winger was ineligible for last weekend's goalless FA Cup draw against Woking under the terms of his loan from Newcastle.
Fran Sandaza and Alan Navarro are still on the sidelines but boss Gus Poyet has an otherwise fully-fit squad to choose from.
Spanish striker Sandaza has resumed training after a month out with a thigh problem but the trip will come too soon while Navarro remains a long-term absentee with a cruciate injury.
Poyet made six changes to his starting line-up against Woking so LuaLua, goalkeeper Casper Ankergren, defenders Adam El-Abd and Gordon Greer and midfielders Elliott Bennett and Radostin Kishishev could all return.
