Lincoln secured a third consecutive win with a vital 3-1 victory over relegation rivals Hereford.
Both sides created chances from the opening whistle.
Hereford goalkeeper Adam Bartlett made a point-blank save to deny on-loan Celtic striker Ben Hutchinson after just seven minutes and Hereford midfielder Joe Colbeck then prodded the ball inches wide as the game flowed from end to end.
But it was Hutchinson who headed Lincoln into a 28th-minute lead from a Mustapha Carayol cross.
The Imps doubled their lead six minutes later when former Bolton striker Delroy Facey headed home another perfect cross from Carayol.
Hereford got one back when Stuart Fleetwood followed in a powerful shot from Mathieu Manset in the 55th minute.
But Lincoln struck back just two minutes later when Carayol blasted the ball past Bartlett.
It was the home side who continued to look the more dangerous, with Bartlett having to make another good save to deny a second for Hutchinson.
Hereford again went close when a Manset header came back off the bar on 82 minutes, but it wasn't enough to stop the Bulls slumping to their first defeat in eight games.
