Southampton thrashed freefalling Peterborough 4-1 at home to move into sixth place in npower League One.

Goals from Lee Barnard, Jose Fonte, Richard Chaplow and substitute Guly Do Prado gave Saints a comfortable victory. Aaron McLean replied for misfiring Posh.

Oldham are seventh after Aidan White's 57th-minute strike earned them a 1-0 win at struggling Dagenham & Redbridge.

Bottom-club Walsall came from behind to record a 2-1 home success over Carlisle. Two goals from Matt Richards secured the win after the visitors had gone ahead through Mike Grella.

Richard Duffy was the hero as Exeter beat hosts Huddersfield 1-0. Duffy headed winner from Ryan Harley's near-post corner to hand Town their second successive defeat.

Brentford pulled clear of the relegation zone with a 2-1 win at struggling Plymouth. Marcus Bean put them in front in the 26th minute but Rory Fallon levelled for Argyle 12 minutes later. Charlie MacDonald notched the winner for the Bees in the 67th minute.

Enoch Showunmi scored the only goal of the game as Tranmere's 1-0 win over Notts County at Meadow Lane left manager Paul Ince still searching for his first league win since taking charge.

A late Gary Jones equaliser saw Rochdale grab a point in a 3-3 thriller at Spotland.

The Robins went ahead through Michael Timlin in the opening minute. But Jones equalised from the penalty spot and Bobby Grant put Dale ahead in the 64th minute.

But Swindon goals from Charlie Austin and Michael Rose stunned the home side before Jones levelled five minutes from time.
