Birmingham defender Scott Dann is allegedly subject to interest from Premier League big guns Liverpool and Tottenham.
According to skysports.com, Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is prepared to do battle with Spurs counterpart Harry Redknapp for the promising 23-year-old's signature in January.
It is claimed that Hodgson is on the lookout for a new centre-back and has identified Dann - who was born in Liverpool - as a defender who fits his specifications.
However, Redknapp is reportedly keeping a close eye on the former Coventry man who has impressed with his commanding displays since making the move to St Andrew's in July 2009.
The ex-Walsall stopper was integral part of the Birmingham team that went on a club record run of 12 games unbeaten last season during an excellent first campaign back in the Premier League.
But - if reports are to be believed - Dann could be on his way out of St Andrew's in January if Liverpool and Spurs step up their interest.
And the former England under-21 international's allegiances could play a part in his future destination after he revealed he is a Liverpool fan and was once a season ticket holder at Anfield.
"Obviously the speculation linking me with some top clubs in the Premier League is flattering," Dann told skysports.com.
"Ultimately it is my ambition to play at the highest level with a major club like it is for any player, but for the time being I am happy playing at Birmingham and I am focused on doing my best for the club."
French youngster Mamadou Sakho and Switzerland full-back Reto Ziegler have also been linked with Liverpool as Hodgson looks to bring new faces to Anfield in January.
Hodgson is expected to have plenty of money to spend in the New Year as new Liverpool owners NESV prepare to back their manager in the transfer market.
Likewise, Spurs are understood to be willing to give Redknapp funds to bolster his squad in January as Tottenham look to mount a genuine assault on the Premier League title.
Tottenham have also been linked with Karim Benzema and Philippe Mexes in what is sure to be a busy transfer window at White Hart Lane.
