Manchester United midfielder Ji-Sung Park has emerged as a shock target for La Liga side Sevilla.

According to The Mirror, the Spanish club will officially move for the South Korean ace in January after their technical director, Victor Orta, met with Park's representatives last week.

Sevilla director of football, Ramon Rodriguez, has also been monitoring Park for some time - allege The Mirror - and they are now prepared to tempt Manchester United into parting with the 29-year-old.

Despite becoming a firm favourite with the Manchester United fans, the club are reportedly unlikely to offer him a new contract when his current deal expires and may cash-in at the end of the season.

The South Korea international only signed an improved deal with the Red Devils a year ago but, if reports are to be believed, he could make a surprise Old Trafford exit.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said at the time: "We are always pleased to secure the future of our star players and Ji-sung has proved himself to be a fantastic professional and an important, versatile player in our squad,

"Therefore, we're delighted he's signed a new contract."

Park added: "I am so pleased to have this new contract. I'm really enjoying my time here and I appreciate all that Sir Alex and the staff have done for me, but I have to mention the fans too, as they are incredible.

"We have achieved great success over the last four years and won many trophies. It is a great experience for me to play at this magnificent football club along with other world famous players."

Park signed for Manchester United from PSV Eindhoven for €5 million in 2005 and has played over 100 times for the Old Trafford club.

Although Park could be on his way out of Old Trafford, Manchester United fans will be buoyed by reports that they are after Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.
