Swedish international striker Ola Toivonen has all the qualities to succeed in the Premier League, claims the player's agent.
Heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in recent months, Toivonen continues to impress with his fine form in the Eredivisie. He currently has 11 goals to his name for PSV Eindhoven.
West Ham United and Spurs have also been linked with the striker, but Reds boss Roy Hodgson was thought to be leading the race for the player as Liverpool search for an attacking foil for Fernando Torres.
“Ola is getting better and better all the time," Martin Dahlin told Sport.co.uk.
"He’s doing really, really well and, with time, I’m sure that he will be good enough for the best leagues in the world. He’s a real all-round player – he’s quite big, he’s quite fast, he scores goals, works hard and he’s been very important for his team."
After starting his career at Degerfors, Toivonen moved to Orgyte and Malmo before signing for PSV. The fee was believed to be in the region of €4.5 million, and the striker has repaid that with a goalscoring record of over a goal every other game in the Dutch top flight.
Liverpool were on alert for the player, with Hodgson thought to be able to use his Scandinavian contacts in any potential deal for the player.
However, the Reds may have to wait until the summer after the German paper Bild reported he wouldn't leave his club in January.
The Merseysiders are thought to have had the player watched on a handful of occasions, but are keen to strengthen at the first opportunity in the New Year. This could put an end to speculation over a Liverpool move,
It is unknown if the Anfield outfit would consider waiting until the summer to make their move for the player, but a Liverpool bid would have to be in the region of £8 million to be considered at the Phillips Stadium.
