Crystal Palace are hoping Darren Ambrose can shake off his latest injury in time to face Hull.

The midfielder, who has already missed a large chunk of the season with a knee problem, is now struggling with the dead leg he suffered at Leeds last weekend.

The Eagles are able to welcome back Owen Garvan after a two-match suspension but fellow midfielder Alex Marrow looks set to miss out with the ankle injury which sidelined him at Elland Road.

Boss George Burley also has problems in defence with captain Paddy McCarthy still doubtful with a groin injury and Hull loanee Anthony Gardner not allowed to play against his parent club.

Adam Barrett will be recalled if McCarthy is ruled out for a third match.

Hull manager Nigel Pearson is set to welcome back captain Ian Ashbee for the trip.

Ashbee was rated touch and go for the game against QPR last week but the postponement allowed him more time to recover from an Achilles injury he suffered in the 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough, and he is expected to be included in the Tigers squad.

Pearson was hopeful Daniel Ayala would return after the on-loan Liverpool defender missed the last two games with a hamstring injury but the game looks to have come a week too early.

Paul McShane and Jay Simpson are both pushing for starting places while Craig Fagan (hip), Caleb Folan and Jimmy Bullard (both knee) are all unavailable.
