Scunthorpe boss Ian Baraclough will check on the fitness of two players ahead of the home clash with Nottingham Forest.
The unnamed duo are suffering from illnesses and will be assessed but the defensive trio of David Mirfin (foot), Niall Canavan (knee) and Michael Raynes (thigh) will definitely miss out.
Baraclough is hopeful Mirfin will return to action in the next fortnight, while midfielder Michael Collins returns to contention after shaking off a shoulder injury.
Winger Garry Thompson could be in line to make his first start since August after Baraclough revealed he is in his thinking following a long-term groin injury lay-off.
The Iron have lost five matches in succession to slide to the brink of the relegation zone.
Aaron Ramsey and Marcus Tudgay will hope to make their full debuts for Nottingham Forest.
The pair arrived at the club on loan a fortnight ago. Arsenal midfielder Ramsey got a run-out as a second-half substitute in the defeat to Leicester, while Sheffield Wednesday striker Tudgay was an unused sub at the Walkers Stadium.
Both had been hoping to force their way into the starting line-up against Bristol City last weekend but the match was postponed.
Dele Adebola remains a slight doubt after a knee injury forced the big striker off at Leicester.
Boss Billy Davies will also check on captain Paul McKenna. The midfielder has missed the last two games with a groin problem.
