Speed: Blades are in the mire

Sheffield United boss Gary Speed admitted his side are "in a relegation battle" after watching them lose 1-0 in a Yorkshire derby at Barnsley.

Hugo Colace scored the only goal of the game to leave the Blades languishing in 20th place in the npower Championship.

"I don't think there is a fear we're going to get sucked into a relegation battle, we're already there," Speed said.

"It's going to be tough - we know that - but like I've said before the effort, desire and will to win in the players is fantastic, so I'd back them above anyone to roll their sleeves up and get out of it.

"But we've got to improve the other side of our game, which is the quality in the final third and our decision making."
