Every week we are given the positives of the game from Grant but there’s nothing positive to be taken from games anymore. With him currently saying that we lost to City because they’re a team who could win the title. That’s no excuse. It’s possibly the worst season we’ve had in a long time and it’s not getting any better.
The Hammers’ defeat of Manchester United was something to be cherished as, first of all, it was a win, and second of all, it was 4-0.
We’re through to the semi-finals of the Carling Cup and some silverware would be nice but I think I speak for most fans when I say we’d rather survive than win this cup. With rumours of Scott Parker leaving in January, I’m seriously beginning to get worried. On Saturday against Manchester City, the team showed no passion or drive.
In all fairness, James Tomkins was impressive and played well. But that’s not a team performance we want to see every week. We’re set to face Blackburn next Saturday, so are three points possible there? God only knows at this stage. We don’t know if Grant’s future is secure and after what happened with Chris Hughton, no-one is safe.
Hopefully we can pick up points over Christmas from the games against Blackburn, Fulham and Everton. Wolves and Wigan are slowly moving further and further away from the bottom so we need all the points we can get. So far this season we have gathered 12 points from a possible 51.
The team spirit is absent and we need it back urgently. Something needs to be done. We need to see Grant talking to the players on the field more. Wally Downes is having an effect on the team, so hopefully Grant can learn a thing or two from him. We don’t want to lose another manager.
