The Power keen on Vale investment

Darts legend Phil Taylor has revealed he would "seriously consider" investing in Port Vale if the club were to change their stance and accept Mo Chaudry's takeover bid.

Taylor is a lifelong fan of the Valiants, along with major shareholder Robbie Williams, and is a long-time friend of Chaudry, who has seen his £3million investment offer rebuffed without hesitation from the League Two club's board.

"If the right people came in, I would seriously consider investing and also coming on to the board if the club wanted me to," Taylor told The Sentinel. "I'm friends with (Vale chairman) Bill Bratt and also Mo, so this puts me in a difficult position. But Mo is a very good businessman. He's a self-made millionaire and would make every effort to help the club move forward."

He added: "Bill Bratt has done a great job and the manager, Micky Adams, is doing fantastically well, but we just haven't got the finances to keep the club running."

Meanwhile, Mike Thompstone has confirmed his resignation as a director at Port Vale. The 59-year-old was voted off the board following a show of hands by shareholders at the AGM but, despite being reinstated by a formal second vote, he had already opted to walk away.
