Seasiders' finances rule out undersoil heating plans

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston says undersoil heating is "not a financial consideration" for the club at the moment despite the postponement of their last two scheduled home games.

The Seasiders' clashes with Manchester United and Tottenham at Bloomfield Road - both of which were to be televised - had to be called off due to freezing conditions, but Oyston has stressed there are no immediate plans to address the problem by installing a new heating system beneath the pitch.

"It really is not a financial consideration," Oyston told Sky Sports News. "These games will be played and we will only know the financial implications once the season is over and we know how many games have been picked for television."

He added: "At the moment, it is not at the forefront of our mindset - spectator and player safety are."

Oyston believes any fixture congestion caused by the rescheduling of the matches is unlikely to trouble Blackpool, who won promotion to the Barclays Premier League for the first time via the Championship play-offs in May.

"I think it's maybe more of an issue for our opponents rather than for ourselves," Oyston said.

"We have just come out of the Championship and we are used to 46 games in a league season, playing Saturday and Tuesday.

"So it is not something that fazes us, but I suppose the bigger clubs and those involved in Europe will have issues."

Meanwhile, reports have suggested Blackpool captain Charlie Adam could be a January transfer window target for Blackburn, something Oyston has played down.

Asked about the Adam speculation, Oyston said: "I've had no offers for or enquiries about any of our players. I think it is paper talk."
