Liverpool prepare 'big money' winger bid to scupper rivals

Liverpool are reportedly planning a January move for Wolves winger Matt Jarvis.

According to the Daily Mirror, Everton are also in the race for the 24-year-old but Wolves will demand 'big-money' for his signature.

Liverpool are allegedly the frontrunners for Jarvis and are plotting a bid sufficient enough to be accepted by Wolves and, in turn, trump their Merseyside neighbours.

Jarvis is on the fringe of the England squad after an impressive season that has seen him gather rave reviews at Molinuex.

Roy Hodgson is a known admirer of the former Gillingham midfielder and is thought to be keen to bring him to Liverpool next month.

The Liverpool boss is in the market for attacking reinforcements in order to add more potency to his side and ease the goalscoring burden on Anfield start Fernando Torres.

Added goalscoring options are believed to be the no.1 priority for Liverpool and director of football strategy Damien Comolli is working hard behind the scenes to seal a deal in the transfer window.

Spurs reject David Bentley and Manchester City speedster Shaun Wright-Phillips are also reportedly on the Liverpool radar as new owners NESV look to back their manager in the transfer market.

Whether a Liverpool move for Jarvis comes to fruition remains to be seen but, if recent speculation is anything to go by, there will be a fascinating battle on Merseyside come January 1.
