With a point gained against Blackburn, there’s hope in the West Ham camp. Although the three points were there for the taking in the end, no complaints will be made.
Rumours are circulating that the Hammers are set to sign Steve Sidwell on a six month loan this week. He will be a great signing but where’s he going to fit in to the side? Players such as Jack Collison and Thomas Hitzlsperger are ready to return in the New Year, hopefully bringing a new lease of life to the side.
West Ham can rest assured that they may not be relegated even if they are bottom for Christmas as West Brom were bottom last year and still managed to pull up their socks and stay up! The Hammers need to look at them and take some inspiration from their survival.
We’re not completely isolated at the bottom as Wolves are two points away with Wigan and Fulham three points ahead of us. Our next game is against Fulham, a win there would take us level with Fulham. Those three points are absolutely vital. Fans are already losing faith and you just have to look at fan sites to see that.
Mark Noble has been a huge loss ever since his injury and we did well on Saturday considering we were missing Victor Obinna, Rob Green and Lars Jacobsen. Our season has been riddled with injuries so we’re lucky to have our mix of young and experienced talent to bring into the side.
James Tomkins has been a rock at centre-back along with captain Matthew Upson. We can’t forget that Tomkins is actually filling in for fellow youngster Manuel Da Costa. So I think if we can win the three points on Sunday, we’re sorted. Grant has to prove himself at some stage, so let it be these next few games!
