Norwich defender Leon Barnett has been handed an extra two-game suspension for throwing the ball at referee Simon Hooper.

Barnett was dismissed by Hooper in the closing stages of the 2-0 home defeat to Portsmouth on December 11 after bringing down David Nugent for a penalty.

The former West Brom man reacted angrily by hurling the ball at Hooper and was subsequently charged by the Football Association with improper conduct.

An FA hearing decided on Wednesday that Barnett should serve a further two-match ban meaning he misses the Boxing Day visit to Crystal Palace and the visit of Sheffield United on December 28.
