Charlton striker Akpo Sodje will be missing for the visit of promotion rivals Southampton.

Sodje suffered a shoulder injury during the 1-0 defeat by Walsall a fortnight ago and has been ruled out of the festive fixtures.

Manager Phil Parkinson will recall winger Johnnie Jackson and frontman Paul Benson after they dropped to the bench for Charlton's last outing, the penalty shoot-out defeat at Brentford in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on December 14.

Teenager Carl Jenkinson made his debut against the Bees at right-back in place of the rested Simon Francis and his fine display may have given Parkinson a selection dilemma.

Marcel Seip returns after being cup-tied but fellow defenders Chris Solly (ankle) and Kelly Youga (knee) remain on the sidelines and Yado Mambo has joined Staines on loan.

Southampton will check on Frazer Richardson and Richard Chaplow.

Former Addicks right-back Richardson missed the defeat by Brentford last time out with a thigh injury and midfielder Chaplow has been struggling with an Achilles problem.

Defender Jose Fonte returns from a suspension and should come straight back into the side with Dan Seaborne the most likely to make way.

Rickie Lambert was a slight doubt for last week's trip to Walsall with a dead leg, but after that match was postponed he is now fine.

However, fellow striker Lee Barnard is expected to miss out again with an ongoing groin problem.

Winger Lee Holmes is a long-term absentee with an ankle injury.
