Colchester manager John Ward has expressed his interested in signing Iceland striker Matthias Vilhjalmsson.

The 23-year-old plays for Iceland's top flight side FH and scored six goals in 21 league appearances last season.

"It's awkward because it's an international loan and the transfer windows are slightly different," Ward told BBC Sport. "It's taking quite a while but it's something we're taking a look at."

He added: "I'm not planning on being too busy in terms of people coming in because I think we have a great squad.

"In terms of players going out, there might be one or two but that depends on individuals and what clubs might be involved."
