Bayern Munich are preparing an audacious £30 million swoop for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie, according to reports in Germany.

Munich, who finished last season as Champions League runners up, have struggled thus far this term and currently sit in fifth place, 14 points off the pace.

Manager Louis van Gaal is now looking for players to boost his side’s attack and believes compatriot van Persie would be the perfect remedy.

However Arsenal will be very reluctant to offload a fans’ favourite who, when fit, is one player that can help them win the league.

The 27-year-old is one of the Gunners’ most experienced players and would be a big loss to Arsene Wenger and his side.

However, the Dutchman is very injury prone, having played just eight times for Arsenal this season, and if a replacement could be found then it could be a calculated gamble to get rid of him.

One other potential problem could be the fact that he would be cup tied for the Champions League but van Gaal would be willing to take a chance in the hope of improving the Bavarian side’s league standing.
