Arsenal have been given a boost in the lead up to their crunch London derby against Chelsea with the news Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie will both start.
It will be the first time they start a game together since August’s 2-1 victory over Blackburn as goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski also returns to the line up.
The Arsenal pair were included in last weekend’s squad for the game against Stoke, which was snowed off, but were not likely to start the game.
The postponement looks to have come at a good time for Arsenal as they will welcome their crucial pair back into their squad for a game they do not have the best of records in.
“We had them in the squad for Stoke City: [Abou] Diaby, Fabregas, Van Persie - [Lukasz] Fabianski too,” Gunners manager Arsene Wenger said.
"So, overall we miss only [Thomas] Vermaelen, [Manuel] Almunia and [Kieran] Gibbs now. They will not be back in the short-term - over Christmas - but everybody else is available."
Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has a sensational record against Arsenal, having scored 13 goals in 13 game against the Gunners and Wenger will be hoping he does not come back to haunt them on Boxing Day despite the Frenchman having a decimated defence to call upon.
