McCall set for Motherwell role

Motherwell are expected to confirm on Thursday that former Scotland midfielder Stuart McCall is their new manager.

It is understood that the search for the successor to Craig Brown has ended and barring any hitches, the 46-year-old ex-Bradford manager will meet the media Thursday afternoon.

There have been a series of names linked to the post in recent weeks since Brown and his assistant Archie Knox departed to Aberdeen.

It was reported that the Lanarkshire club had interviewed former Oldham boss Dave Penney, while Neil McDonald and Ricky Sbragia withdrew their interest.

The former Rangers and Everton powerhouse will take over the reigns at Fir Park with caretaker boss Gordon Young telling BBC Scotland: "I look forward to working with Stuart McCall."
