Everton have denied reports that striker James Vaughan is set to join npower Championship promotion-hopefuls Cardiff.

Reports from Wales claim the Bluebirds have agreed a £1million fee for the player and expect him to join ahead of next Tuesday's home clash with Leeds.

Fellow Championship clubs Derby and Leicester are also rumoured to be keeping tabs on the 22-year-old.

Vaughan has just returned to Everton after a loan spell at Crystal Palace where he scored five goals in 14 appearances.
