Hull are closing in on the signing of defender James Chester after agreeing an undisclosed fee with Manchester United.
The 21-year-old centre-back spent the first half of the season on-loan at Carlisle where he impressed netting four goals in 23 appearances.
Tigers boss Nigel Pearson told the Hull Daily Mail: "We're trying to conclude the deal, but we're not quite over the line."
He added: "Hopefully we'll be able to do that in the next day. The fee has been agreed so hopefully we can conclude things.
"He'll bring a bit of quality. He's a different type of player, he's not a massive centre-back.
"But it would be a good move for the present and the future, I think he'll be a really good signing for us. He's a player with a lot of promise."
