Southampton manager Nigel Adkins has confirmed he has already made bids for certain players in the January transfer window.

Adkins is looking for new players to try and improve his current squad in order to win promotion to the Championship but insisted he is content with the state of his current squad, if his transfer targets do not become available.

"Behind closed doors privately there has been offers made to clubs and players that are substantial," Adkins told the Southern Daily Echo. "We are trying to bring quality to this football club so we will see what materialises."

He added: "If it does it's great, if it doesn't we move on to the next one."
