Napoli midfielder Marek Hamsik, who has been linked with a move to the Barclays Premier League, has revealed his admiration for Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.

The Slovakian captain is highly rated and has impressed for his high flying Serie A side so far this season.

With Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson a long time admirer and Arsenal and Liverpool both interested in bringing him to England, there is every chance he could playing alongside some of his heroes in the near future.

“I used to model my game on Pavel Nedved,” Hamsik told Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

“But now I love from afar English players like Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard. That's the type I want to be. The important thing is to always know where the goal is.”

Manchester United are not thought to want to bring players to Old Trafford this month but will not rule out a move in the summer while Arsenal might be in the market for a new central midfielder if recent rumours over Samir Nasri’s future with the Gunners are true.

Liverpool are the most likely club to snap him up in the current transfer window as they will be the most active top flight team in the market.

However, Hamsik may not be overly interested in a move to Anfield due to Liverpool’s on-field troubles, which currently see them struggling at the foot of the table.
