Sheffield United defender Andy Taylor has been ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering knee ligament damage.

And striker Richard Cresswell could be sidelined for up to six weeks after he damaged his knee in Monday's home draw with Doncaster.

Taylor, who sustained his injury during the Boxing Day defeat to Hull, said: "It's been hard to take because you never think it's going to happen to you and I'll be honest, it brought a tear to my eye when the news was confirmed."

No timescale has been set for Cresswell's comeback. He was forced off during the second half on Monday and hopes an injection could speed up his recovery.

Cresswell said: "It's the same injury that Ched (Evans) picked up at Peterborough and you're usually out of action for between four to six weeks, but I'm going to have an injection and then we'll see how it goes."
