Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Valencia winger Juan Mata.
The Spain international is one of the hottest prospects in Europe thanks to dazzling displays in La Liga in recent years and it would now seem he could be on his way to the Premier League.
Mata, 22, previously alerted the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool by revealing his desire to move to England and, according to tribalfootball.com, the Gunners are set to 'make an enquiry' regarding a potential transfer.
"In Spain they show many Premier League games on TV and it is an inspirational league," Mata told FourFourTwo during the summer.
"Maybe I would like to play in the Premier League. At the moment I'm here, I love living in Valencia and playing in the Spanish league, but in England the league is also top class and there are many big teams. Who knows?
"I admire Arsenal and the philosophy that the young players have. Liverpool, with their Spanish players - they also have an incredible squad.
"And Manchester United and Chelsea are teams that are very big, like Real Madrid and Barcelona, with money and incredible players."
Now, Arsenal have reportedly scheduled talks with Valencia regarding the potential release of Carlos Vela on loan and will float the idea of signing Mata when representatives meet this month.
Although notoriously frugal in transfer market, Arsene Wenger is thought to be keen on the fleet-footed Spaniard, who has the ability to add an extra dimension to Arsenal's attacking play.
A more direct option than perhaps already on display at Arsenal, the €23 million-rated wideman would provide added dynamism and an increased goalscoring threat as the Gunners pursue their first piece of silverware since 2005.
Arsenal have also been linked with January moves for CSKA Moscow star Keisuke Honda and Lech Poznan goal machine Artjoms Rudnevs, but whether Wenger will bolster his attacking options remains to be seen.
