Macclesfield match postponed

Macclesfield's npower League Two trip to Burton on Saturday has been postponed as a mark of respect to Richard Butcher, who died aged 29.

The Silkmen midfielder was found dead at his home in Manchester on Monday morning having passed away in his sleep overnight.

A statement from Macclesfield said: "Following news of the tragic early death of Richard Butcher, Macclesfield Town have made a joint decision with Burton Albion and the Football League to postpone this weekend's match as a mark of respect."

The statement continued: "The club's reserve match with Accrington, scheduled for Wednesday this week, has also been postponed."
