Liverpool's problems away from home continued as they lost 2-1 at Blackpool to deny new manager Kenny Dalglish an enjoyable return to the Barclays Premier League after more than a decade's absence.

Fernando Torres had given the Scot the ideal start with a third-minute strike but goals from Gary Taylor-Fletcher and DJ Campbell extended Liverpool's miserable away league record to just two victories in almost 13 months.

They have now lost 10 of their 21 league matches - eight out of 11 on the road - as a performance which began brightly broke down after the interval.
