Brighton defender Jim McNulty is out for the rest of the season following ankle surgery.

The left-back is back with Albion after suffering ankle ligament damage while on loan with npower Championship side Scunthorpe.

"Jimmy has undergone a ligament reconstruction to his left ankle and has now returned home to rest ahead of the rehabilitation process," Seagulls physio Nathan Ring told the club's official website.

"He will certainly miss the remainder of this season, but we are working towards getting him fit for pre-season and ready for the beginning of next season."
