Newcastle are to sign Wolfsburg midfielder Karim Ziani according to the Daily Mail.

However, conflicting reports today state that Ziani has reached an agreement with Turkish side Kayserispor for a loan deal.

The move may cause problems at St. James' Park because the Algerian international had a big falling out with former Marseille team-mate Hatem Ben Arfa.

Newcastle and Wolfsburg are now set to open talks about Ziani this week, with the 28 year-old expecting to command a fee of less than £5million.

Ziani had a training-ground bust-up with Ben Arfa less than two years ago when they were together in the south of France and he would need to convince Newcastle manager Alan Pardew that things would not flare up again if he were to move.

The Algerian signed for Wolfsburg for €10million in 2009 and he has 60 caps to his name at international levels.
