Chesterfield tightened their grip on the npower League Two title race with a 1-0 win over FA Cup heroes Stevenage.

The visitors made the headlines last weekend with their victory over Newcastle but they could not repeat the feat in the league as Drew Talbot's 42nd-minute goal sealed matters at the B2net Stadium.

Chesterfield are now five points clear after Rotherham failed to recover from a terrible start in losing 2-1 against Southend.

The visitors were ahead inside a minute through Ryan Hall and Blair Sturrock doubled the lead 12 minutes later. Nick Fenton pulled one back in the 61st minute but it was not enough to prevent Rotherham slipping to defeat.

Wycombe overtook the Millers and jumped into second place as a brace from full-back Andy Sandell helped the Chairboys come from behind to claim a 2-1 win at Lincoln, who dropped to the foot of the table.

Gavin McCallum (17) put the hosts ahead but free-kick specialist Sandell equalised within two minutes and, although Ben Strevens missed a penalty, Sandell grabbed the winner in the 39th minute.

Fifth met fourth at Gresty Road, and it was hosts Crewe that came away victorious to close the gap on their opponents to a single point courtesy of a 2-1 win.

Shaun Miller gave Crewe the lead in the 18th minute and they sealed the win nine minutes from time through Adam Dugdale's header after Justin Richards had levelled from the spot (58).
