I’m left slightly confused over the current situation at Upton Park. Where to begin? It was reported that Martin O’Neill was to take over from Avram Grant after the game against Arsenal, regardless of the result. Just like that.

The reported treatment of Grant has now caused a huge backing from the fans and much more support for him. Where did all of this come from? All of the big English news agencies were reporting it so someone must have verified it and said it was all true. Bizarre is the only word for it.

Several newspapers claimed that Karren Brady had texted all of the players telling them to revolt against Grant. These claims were deemed untrue and the Hammers are planning to sue. But, Brady did speak out about the reason for not signing Steve Sidwell in her newspaper column causing controversy.

In the 20th Century, West Ham only had eight managers. We were known as a club who held on to managers for a long time but in the 21st Century we have already had six managers. We seem to have fallen victim to the current trend of being hasty towards the sacking of managers.

We may be bottom of the table, but there’s every chance we will be in the Carling Cup final. That final may just be what the fans need to boost their support of the team. It’s so easy for the fans to complain about what’s going on regarding results but we don’t know what’s going on off the field. It’s sure to unsettle the players.

We’re not West Ham fans because they win everything, we’re West Ham fans because we love the football club. So get relegated or survive this season, we will stay behind our club no matter what.
