Journeyman defender Pascal Chimbonda is set for talks with Championship leaders Queens Park Rangers over a proposed move, after leaving Blackburn Rovers by mutual consent.
The former Wigan, Tottenham and Sunderland right-back has had a torrid time of late, making just eight appearances for Rovers this season.
Having attracted interest from a number of clubs including Ipswich Town and Leeds United, Chimbonda is said to favour a move to Loftus Road.
Speaking to skysports.com, the 31-year-old’s agent Willie McKay explained:
“He feels QPR are an ambitious club that matches his own ambitions and he wants to help them win promotion to the Premier League.
“He is keen to get his career back on track after a tough last six months at Blackburn.”
Now that Chimbonda is a free agent who would not command a transfer fee, it is thought that a number of teams will be alerted by the Frenchman’s search for regular first-team football, so Neil Warnock will have to move quickly to secure his man.
