Gary Jones fired Rochdale to a narrow 1-0 win over Yeovil.
The 33-year-old was a constant threat in the opening stages, shooting wide after 13 minutes before firing another effort just over the bar two minutes later.
He got his reward in the 17th minute when he collected Brian Barry-Murphy's cross and shot low to through a crowded area and into the net.
Rochdale were well worth their half-time lead but they came under constant pressure in the second half.
Yeovil, however, lacked the cutting edge to keep their five-match unbeaten run going.
Debutant Dale keeper Owain Fon Williams kept out what looked a certain equaliser from Paul Wotton with his feet in stoppage time.
