Ryan Donaldson could be handed his Hartlepool debut against Notts County, while Peter Hartley and James Brown should overcome illness to be involved.

Donaldson, 19, joined Pools on a month`s loan from Newcastle on Monday as first-team coach Mick Wadsworth looks to solve the club`s goalscoring problems.

Centre-back Hartley came off early in the second half of Saturday`s clash with Peterborough feeling unwell. The game was goalless at the time, with Hartlepool going on to lose 4-0.

Forward Brown missed that clash with a bug but he should be fit enough to feature, while Paul Murray may also return in midfield after he was an unused substitute at the weekend.

Defender Sam Collins lasted 90 minutes at London Road on his return from a knee problem and should continue.

Defender Mike Edwards and midfielder Ricky Ravenhill are doubts for Notts County.

Both players are nursing knocks following the 1-0 home defeat to Carlisle on Saturday, when Ravenhill was forced from the field due to his problem.

Rob Burch returned to the squad as a substitute against the Cumbrians after a two-match injury absence. Notts boss Paul Ince must once again decide whether to stick with Stuart Nelson in goal or recall the former Tottenham trainee.

Ben Burgess is nearing fitness again after a hamstring problem and could be involved, while fellow forward Lee Hughes (calf) and defender Liam Chilvers (knee) could also come back into the reckoning.
