Southend hammered Macclesfield 4-1 to secure their first home win since October.
The Blues raced into a four-goal half-time lead with Bilel Mohsni netting the first in the 17th minute when he fired home a cross from Ryan Hall.
Southend doubled their advantage in the 33rd minute when Hall rifled home a left-foot shot past a diving Jose Veiga.
Centre-back Mohsni grabbed the equaliser for Southend against Bury on Friday night after being brought on as a makeshift striker.
But the Frenchman looked perfectly at home up front as he grabbed his second of the night in the 39th minute after Hall's cross fell for Mohsni to slot home.
And Blues skipper Craig Easton marked Burns' Night in the 43rd minute by guiding the ball into the net after Mohsni's shot took a deflection off a defender.
Southend pressed for a fifth goal but it was Macclesfield who found the back of the net in the 79th minute when Daniel scored from 12 yards from Hamza Bencherif's cross.
