Blackburn boss Steve Kean is hoping to tie up the signing of Barcelona forward Ruben Rochina, and also sign Sao Paulo striker, Ronieli dos Santos, according to the Daily Mirror.

Striker Rochina will reportedly join Rovers for a fee that could rise above £1million and he told Barcelona officials that he would go to England when his contract runs out in the summer anyway.

In addition it is believed that Venkys are also hoping to seal a deal for Sao Paolo striker Ronieli, who is being looked upon as one for the future as opposed to someone who could make an immediate impact.

He is currently in Europe, on a season-long loan with Turkish first division side Karşıyaka S.K. However, Steve Kean is willing to pay the money to take Ronieli on a permanent basis.

It has been common practice over the years for Brazilian players to start out in their native country before coming to Europe to earn the big money paid to top footballers; and afterwards returning to Brazil to see out their career.

High profile names such as Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos and Rivaldo are three notable names that have followed this pattern.

Rovers recently re-signed Roque Santa Cruz from Manchester City on loan for the remainder of the season.
